In our Wine Shop you will also find hiking maps and information packages covering the area. Since our focus is on you as our guest we shall always be pleased to help you out with any of your queries. Take advantage of the wide range of hiking and biking paths along the Moselle and its beautiful valleys aside. Or even discover the Moselle from a different perspective, i.e. by boat. You will find peace, relaxation and plenty of pure nature. Get ready to experience fine entertainment and good company when visiting one of the innumerable wine and street festivals along the Moselle. You can also learn about history and culture when touring the river, especially if you look for the places where the Romans built their cities, theatres and wine presses. Or even visit the countless castles overlooking the loops of the Moselle river. The Moselle and its tributary river, the Saar, have shaped a 2000-year-old cultural landscape which was strongly characterized by the Romans. Trier – the Rome of the north – was close, so in its early days the Moselle river already played an important role in the Roman settlement region, and viticulture was practised intensively, then. Until today, wine has formed the landscape, lifestyle and the work of the people living along the Moselle, ever since. Along the lower stretches of the Moselle the world’s steepest hillside vineyards seem to climb up to the sky – whereas along the middle and upper Moselle the vines snuggle up to the valley side like big vivacious carpets. Numerous fortresses line the river and reign over romantic wine-growing towns. Cochem, with its overwhelming Reichsburg, as well as Bernkastel-Kues with its beautiful market square, are only two out of many places of interest that are considered a “Must See” when touring the Moselle valley. Often enough the traveller will recognize the vineyard location rather than the village it belongs to while travelling along the Moselle – from A such as “Trittenheimer Altärchen” to Z the “Zeller Schwarze Katz “.
